In circulated condition it's worth face value. Only uncirculated coins with full original luster, or a recognized variety, carry a premium.
What would make yours worth more:

Quick answers
- Is the 2021-P Tuskegee Airmen Quarter rare?
- Not by date: 160 million were struck. A sharp uncirculated coin or a known variety is what makes one special.
- Is the 2021-P Tuskegee Airmen Quarter silver?
- No. It's copper core clad in 75% copper / 25% nickel. Quarters dated 1964 and earlier are 90% silver.
- Where is the mint mark on a 2021 America the Beautiful Quarter?
- On the obverse, to the right of Washington's ribbon. "W" quarters were struck in 2019 and 2020 and released into circulation in small numbers. On this coin the mark is P, for Philadelphia.
- How many 2021-P Tuskegee Airmen Quarter coins were made?
- 160,400,000.
What to check on your 2021-P
- Make sure the mint mark really is a P. A worn or filled mark can be misread. It's what separates your coin from the 2021-D (304 million made).
- Proof or circulation strike? A proof has mirror-like fields and frosted design details and was sold to collectors, not released in change. The 2021-S Tuskegee Airmen Quarter Proof (559,571 made) is the one to compare with.
- A face that's fully copper colored could be a missing clad layer error. Patchy discoloration is usually damage.
- Judge the grade under good light. Look for luster and freedom from bag marks. "W" quarters in circulation are worth a premium even in average condition.
With 160 million made, the 2021-P still turns up in everyday change. Keep yours only if it looks uncirculated or shows a variety; otherwise it's worth face value.
The story of the 2021-P Tuskegee Airmen
Philadelphia made 160,400,000 of the Tuskegee Airmen coin.
Denver struck more of the same design, 304 million, so the 2021-P is the scarcer of the pair by about 47 percent.
Across the whole program it sits 33rd of 56 Philadelphia designs by mintage, where the scarcest is Chaco Culture at 22 million.
Elsewhere in US coinage in 2021
The America the Beautiful quarter program ended and a new reverse showing General Washington crossing the Delaware took its place. Morgan and Peace dollars were struck again for their centennial.
How to recognize it
The Tuskegee Airmen design
The only quarter of 2021 and the final design of the series honors the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site in Alabama. A Tuskegee Airman suits up for combat with the Moton Field control tower behind him and two P-51 Mustangs flying overhead. Above runs the inscription THEY FOUGHT TWO WARS, referring to fascism abroad and racial discrimination at home. Moton Field was where the first Black military pilots in the Army Air Forces received primary flight training. Chris Costello designed the reverse and Phebe Hemphill sculpted it.
The America the Beautiful Quarter design
Each reverse shows a national park or other national site, one for every state, the District of Columbia and five territories, with the site's name, its state and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Five designs were issued each year from 2010 to 2020, followed by a final design for the Tuskegee Airmen in 2021. The obverse uses a restored, more detailed version of Flanagan's original Washington portrait.
