The story of the 2025-D Michigan: Automobile assembly line
Denver made 540,375 of the Michigan: Automobile assembly line innovation dollar. Among the 4 designs of 2025 it was the second smallest Denver run, between Arkansas: Raye Montague (405,000) and Florida: Space Shuttle (544,775).
Philadelphia struck a similar number of the same design (586,550), so neither mint's version is much harder to find.
Across the whole program it sits 23rd of 29 Denver designs by mintage, where the scarcest is Georgia: Trustees' Garden at 368,475.
Elsewhere in US coinage in 2025
The Treasury announced the end of penny production for circulation and the last circulating cents were struck in Philadelphia in November 2025. It was also the final year of the American Women quarters.
How to recognize it
The Michigan: Automobile assembly line design
Michigan's 2025 dollar recognizes the moving automobile assembly line, which the Ford Motor Company introduced at its Highland Park plant in 1913. By bringing the work to stationary workers, the line sharply cut the time needed to build a Model T and helped make cars affordable for ordinary families. The method spread through the Detroit auto industry and into manufacturing worldwide. The reverse shows a 1930s assembly line where workers lower an automobile cab into place, with the inscription AUTO ASSEMBLY LINE.
The American Innovation Dollar design
The obverse shows the Statue of Liberty in profile with IN GOD WE TRUST and $1. Each reverse honors an innovation or innovator from one state or territory, issued in the order the states joined the Union. The date, mint mark and E PLURIBUS UNUM are lettered on the edge, which is where to look for the mint mark.
