What is a 2013-D Woodrow Wilson Presidential Dollar worth?
Collectors pay a real premium for this date, worn or not, because far fewer were made than usual. Uncirculated pieces go much higher.
What would make yours worth more:
- Uncirculated condition with full original luster
- A die variety or minting error
- Certification by PCGS or NGC, which buyers expect for scarce dates

Quick answers
- Is the 2013-D Woodrow Wilson Presidential Dollar rare?
- Somewhat. 3,360,000 were made, fewer than most dates, so collectors treat it as a semi-key.
- Is the 2013-D Woodrow Wilson Presidential Dollar silver?
- No. It's manganese brass (88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, 2% nickel). Circulating silver dollars ended with the 1935 Peace dollar. Some Eisenhower dollars with an S mint mark were made in 40% silver for collectors, but circulation Ike dollars are copper-nickel clad.
- Where is the mint mark on a 2013 Presidential Dollar?
- On the edge, incused along with the date and mottos. On this coin the mark is D, for Denver.
- How many 2013-D Woodrow Wilson Presidential Dollar coins were made?
- 3,360,000.
What to check on your 2013-D
- Make sure the mint mark really is a D. A worn or filled mark can be misread. It's what separates your coin from the 2013-P (4.6 million made).
- Judge the grade under good light. Check the high points of each portrait and the edge lettering, which should be complete and evenly spaced.
The story of the 2013-D Woodrow Wilson
Denver made 3,360,000 of the Woodrow Wilson presidential dollar. Among the 4 designs of 2013 it was the second smallest Denver run, between William Howard Taft (3.4 million) and William McKinley (3.4 million).
Philadelphia struck more of the same design, 4.6 million, so the 2013-D is the scarcer of the pair by about 27 percent.
Across the whole program it's one of the Denver designs made in the smallest numbers, 3rd from the bottom of 40.
Made only for collectors (2012 to 2016)
From 2012 the program continued for collectors only. The Mint struck the remaining presidents in small numbers and sold them in rolls, bags and sets, so these dates are seldom found in change and their mintages are a fraction of the early years.
The original program ended in 2016 with Ronald Reagan. Uncirculated coins from original rolls are the usual way to fill these years in a set and edge lettering errors from this period are much rarer than the early ones.
How to recognize it
The Woodrow Wilson design
Woodrow Wilson, a former president of Princeton University and governor of New Jersey, was the 28th president from 1913 to 1921. He signed the Federal Reserve Act in 1913. In April 1917 he asked Congress to declare war on Germany, bringing the United States into World War I. His Fourteen Points and work toward the League of Nations earned him the Nobel Peace Prize. The Nineteenth Amendment was ratified during his second term.
The Presidential Dollar design
The obverse shows a president with his name and the order and years of his time in office. The reverse shows the Statue of Liberty with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and $1. The date, mint mark and E PLURIBUS UNUM are lettered on the edge, along with IN GOD WE TRUST on coins struck before 2009, so check the edge for the mint mark.
