What is a 2018-P Cumberland Island Quarter worth?
A worn 2018-P Cumberland Island is a spender: face value. A bright uncirculated one, or one with a known error, is worth setting aside.
What would make yours worth more:
- Uncirculated condition with full original luster
- A die variety or minting error

Quick answers
- Is the 2018-P Cumberland Island Quarter rare?
- No. 138 million were made, a typical run for the series. Condition and varieties decide its value, not the date.
- Is the 2018-P Cumberland Island Quarter silver?
- No. It's copper core clad in 75% copper / 25% nickel. Quarters dated 1964 and earlier are 90% silver.
- Where is the mint mark on a 2018 America the Beautiful Quarter?
- On the obverse, to the right of Washington's ribbon. "W" quarters were struck in 2019 and 2020 and released into circulation in small numbers. On this coin the mark is P, for Philadelphia.
- How many 2018-P Cumberland Island Quarter coins were made?
- 138,000,000.
What to check on your 2018-P
- Make sure the mint mark really is a P. A worn or filled mark can be misread. It's what separates your coin from the 2018-D (152 million made).
- Proof or circulation strike? A proof has mirror-like fields and frosted design details and was sold to collectors, not released in change. The 2018-S Cumberland Island Quarter Proof (603,747 made) is the one to compare with.
- A face that's fully copper colored could be a missing clad layer error. Patchy discoloration is usually damage.
- Judge the grade under good light. Look for luster and freedom from bag marks. "W" quarters in circulation are worth a premium even in average condition.
With 138 million made, the 2018-P still turns up in everyday change. Keep yours only if it looks uncirculated or shows a variety; otherwise it's worth face value.
The story of the 2018-P Cumberland Island
Philadelphia made 138,000,000 of the Cumberland Island coin. That was the smallest Philadelphia run of the 5 designs issued in 2018, so it's the one from that year you're least likely to find in change.
Denver struck a similar number of the same design (152 million), so neither mint's version is much harder to find.
Across the whole program it sits 25th of 56 Philadelphia designs by mintage, where the scarcest is Chaco Culture at 22 million.

The American Innovation dollar program began, with a new reverse for each state and territory celebrating an invention or innovator.
How to recognize it
The Cumberland Island design
Georgia's Cumberland Island National Seashore is the fourth design of 2018, showing a snowy egret perched on a branch at the edge of a salt marsh, ready for flight. Cumberland is the largest of Georgia's barrier islands. The national seashore, established in 1972, protects its beaches, dunes, marshes and maritime forest, along with historic sites such as the Dungeness ruins. Donna Weaver designed the reverse, which Don Everhart sculpted.
The America the Beautiful Quarter design
Each reverse shows a national park or other national site, one for every state, the District of Columbia and five territories, with the site's name, its state and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Five designs were issued each year from 2010 to 2020, followed by a final design for the Tuskegee Airmen in 2021. The obverse uses a restored, more detailed version of Flanagan's original Washington portrait.
