How to recognize it
The War In The Pacific design
Guam's War in the Pacific National Historical Park, the third design of 2019, shows American forces coming ashore at Asan Bay. These landings in July 1944 began the battle to liberate Guam, which Japanese forces had occupied since December 1941. The park preserves invasion beaches and battlefield sites. It honors those who took part in the Pacific campaigns of World War II. Joel Iskowitz designed the reverse and Michael Gaudioso sculpted it.
The America the Beautiful Quarter design
Each reverse shows a national park or other national site, one for every state, the District of Columbia and five territories, with the site's name, its state and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Five designs were issued each year from 2010 to 2020, followed by a final design for the Tuskegee Airmen in 2021. The obverse uses a restored, more detailed version of Flanagan's original Washington portrait.
