What is a 2022-P Anna May Wong Quarter worth?
In circulated condition it's worth face value. Only uncirculated coins with full original luster, or a recognized variety, carry a premium.
What would make yours worth more:
- Uncirculated condition with full original luster
- A die variety or minting error

Quick answers
- Is the 2022-P Anna May Wong Quarter rare?
- Not by date: 227 million were struck. A sharp uncirculated coin or a known variety is what makes one special.
- Is the 2022-P Anna May Wong Quarter silver?
- No. It's copper core clad in 75% copper / 25% nickel. Quarters dated 1964 and earlier are 90% silver.
- Where is the mint mark on a 2022 American Women Quarter?
- On the obverse (P, D or S). On this coin the mark is P, for Philadelphia.
- How many 2022-P Anna May Wong Quarter coins were made?
- 226,800,000.
What to check on your 2022-P
- Make sure the mint mark really is a P. A worn or filled mark can be misread. It's what separates your coin from the 2022-D (241 million made).
- Proof or circulation strike? A proof has mirror-like fields and frosted design details and was sold to collectors, not released in change. The 2022-S Anna May Wong Quarter Proof (303,680 made) is the one to compare with.
- A face that's fully copper colored could be a missing clad layer error. Patchy discoloration is usually damage.
- Judge the grade under good light. Modern quarters are graded on luster, strike and marks. Proofs are judged on cameo contrast.
With 227 million made, the 2022-P still turns up in everyday change. Keep yours only if it looks uncirculated or shows a variety; otherwise it's worth face value.
The story of the 2022-P Anna May Wong
Philadelphia made 226,800,000 of the Anna May Wong quarter. Among the 5 designs of 2022 it was the second smallest Philadelphia run, between Nina Otero-Warren (225 million) and Maya Angelou (238 million).
Denver struck a similar number of the same design (241 million), so neither mint's version is much harder to find.
Across the whole program it sits 14th of 20 Philadelphia designs by mintage, where the scarcest is Althea Gibson at 35 million.

The American Women quarters program began, alongside a new obverse portrait of Washington by Laura Gardin Fraser.
How to recognize it
The Anna May Wong design
Anna May Wong (1905 to 1961) is regarded as the first Chinese American film star in Hollywood. Born in Los Angeles, she won her first leading role in The Toll of the Sea in 1922 and later appeared opposite Marlene Dietrich in Shanghai Express in 1932. Frustrated by stereotyped parts, she pursued work in Europe and spoke out about how Asian Americans were portrayed on screen. The reverse shows a close-up of Wong resting her head on her hand, framed by the lights of a theater marquee. Emily Damstra designed it.
The American Women Quarter design
The obverse shows a new portrait of George Washington by Laura Gardin Fraser, originally submitted in the 1931 design competition. Each reverse honors a woman who shaped American history, with her name and the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM and QUARTER DOLLAR. Five honorees were issued each year from 2022 to 2025.
