Sacagawea Dollar Values & Mintages

The golden dollar shows Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste. Its manganese brass gives it a gold color so it cannot be confused with a quarter.

From 2009 the reverse changes every year to celebrate Native American contributions, from the Three Sisters of agriculture onward. Collectors also hunt the 2000-P "Cheerios" dollars: 5,500 coins with a more detailed eagle tail were packed in cereal boxes before the design was finalized.

Designer: Glenna Goodacre (obverse); Thomas D. Rogers (eagle reverse, 2000–2008); Native American reverses by various artists from 2009.

Grading tips

Golden dollars tarnish easily, so bright original color matters. Check Sacagawea's cheek and the eagle's feathers for wear.
