What is a 2014-P Everglades Quarter worth?

In circulated condition it's worth face value. Only uncirculated coins with full original luster, or a recognized variety, carry a premium.

What would make yours worth more:

  • Uncirculated condition with full original luster
  • A die variety or minting error

Quick answers

Is the 2014-P Everglades Quarter rare?
Not by date: 158 million were struck. A sharp uncirculated coin or a known variety is what makes one special.
Is the 2014-P Everglades Quarter silver?
No. It's copper core clad in 75% copper / 25% nickel. Quarters dated 1964 and earlier are 90% silver.
Where is the mint mark on a 2014 America the Beautiful Quarter?
On the obverse, to the right of Washington's ribbon. "W" quarters were struck in 2019 and 2020 and released into circulation in small numbers. On this coin the mark is P, for Philadelphia.
How many 2014-P Everglades Quarter coins were made?
157,601,200.

What to check on your 2014-P

  • Make sure the mint mark really is a P. A worn or filled mark can be misread. It's what separates your coin from the 2014-D (142 million made).
  • Proof or circulation strike? A proof has mirror-like fields and frosted design details and was sold to collectors, not released in change. The 2014-S Everglades Quarter Proof (828,186 made) is the one to compare with.
  • A face that's fully copper colored could be a missing clad layer error. Patchy discoloration is usually damage.
  • Judge the grade under good light. Look for luster and freedom from bag marks. "W" quarters in circulation are worth a premium even in average condition.

With 158 million made, the 2014-P still turns up in everyday change. Keep yours only if it looks uncirculated or shows a variety; otherwise it's worth face value.

The story of the 2014-P Everglades

Philadelphia made 157,601,200 of the Everglades coin. Among the 5 designs of 2014 it was the middle Philadelphia run, between Shenandoah (113 million) and Great Sand Dunes (160 million).

Denver struck a similar number of the same design (142 million), so neither mint's version is much harder to find.

Across the whole program it sits 30th of 56 Philadelphia designs by mintage, where the scarcest is Chaco Culture at 22 million.

How to recognize it

The Everglades design

Florida's Everglades National Park closed the 2014 releases with two wading birds: an anhinga with outstretched wings perched on a willow in the foreground and a roseate spoonbill wading in the water beyond. Established in 1947, the park protects the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. It was among the first national parks created to protect an ecosystem rather than scenery. Joel Iskowitz designed the reverse and Joseph Menna sculpted it.

The America the Beautiful Quarter design

Each reverse shows a national park or other national site, one for every state, the District of Columbia and five territories, with the site's name, its state and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Five designs were issued each year from 2010 to 2020, followed by a final design for the Tuskegee Airmen in 2021. The obverse uses a restored, more detailed version of Flanagan's original Washington portrait.
