Denver struck fewer of the same design (206 million), which makes the 2015-D the scarcer of the pair.
Across the whole program it sits 50th of 56 Philadelphia designs by mintage, where the scarcest is Chaco Culture at 22 million.
How to recognize it
The Bombay Hook design
Delaware's Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge is the fourth 2015 design, showing a great blue heron in the foreground with a great egret behind it in a salt marsh. Established in 1937 as a haven for migrating birds along the Atlantic Flyway, the refuge protects a large expanse of tidal salt marsh on Delaware Bay. Thousands of ducks, geese and shorebirds stop there during spring and fall migrations. Joel Iskowitz designed the reverse and Phebe Hemphill sculpted it.
The America the Beautiful Quarter design
Each reverse shows a national park or other national site, one for every state, the District of Columbia and five territories, with the site's name, its state and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Five designs were issued each year from 2010 to 2020, followed by a final design for the Tuskegee Airmen in 2021. The obverse uses a restored, more detailed version of Flanagan's original Washington portrait.
