What is a 2015-P Homestead Quarter worth?

A worn 2015-P Homestead is a spender: face value. A bright uncirculated one, or one with a known error, is worth setting aside.

What would make yours worth more:

  • Uncirculated condition with full original luster
  • A die variety or minting error

For market prices, check recent sold results for certified coins in the same grade.

Quick answers

Is the 2015-P Homestead Quarter rare?
No. 214 million were made, a typical run for the series. Condition and varieties decide its value, not the date.
Is the 2015-P Homestead Quarter silver?
No. It's copper core clad in 75% copper / 25% nickel. Quarters dated 1964 and earlier are 90% silver.
Where is the mint mark on a 2015 America the Beautiful Quarter?
On the obverse, to the right of Washington's ribbon. "W" quarters were struck in 2019 and 2020 and released into circulation in small numbers. On this coin the mark is P, for Philadelphia.
How many 2015-P Homestead Quarter coins were made?
214,400,000.

What to check on your 2015-P

  • Make sure the mint mark really is a P. A worn or filled mark can be misread. It's what separates your coin from the 2015-D (249 million made).
  • Proof or circulation strike? A proof has mirror-like fields and frosted design details and was sold to collectors, not released in change. The 2015-S Homestead Quarter Proof (831,503 made) is the one to compare with.
  • A face that's fully copper colored could be a missing clad layer error. Patchy discoloration is usually damage.
  • Judge the grade under good light. Look for luster and freedom from bag marks. "W" quarters in circulation are worth a premium even in average condition.

With 214 million made, the 2015-P still turns up in everyday change. Keep yours only if it looks uncirculated or shows a variety; otherwise it's worth face value.

The story of the 2015-P Homestead

Philadelphia made 214,400,000 of the Homestead coin. That was the smallest Philadelphia run of the 5 designs issued in 2015, so it's the one from that year you're least likely to find in change.

Denver struck a similar number of the same design (249 million), so neither mint's version is much harder to find.

Across the whole program it sits 40th of 56 Philadelphia designs by mintage, where the scarcest is Chaco Culture at 22 million.

How to recognize it

The Homestead design

Nebraska's quarter, first of 2015, honors Homestead National Monument of America, since renamed Homestead National Historical Park. The design is built around three essentials of survival on a claim: a log cabin for shelter, ears of corn for food and a water pump for water. The park preserves the claim of Daniel Freeman near Beatrice, one of the first filed under the Homestead Act of 1862. Ronald D. Sanders designed the reverse, which Jim Licaretz sculpted.

The America the Beautiful Quarter design

Each reverse shows a national park or other national site, one for every state, the District of Columbia and five territories, with the site's name, its state and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Five designs were issued each year from 2010 to 2020, followed by a final design for the Tuskegee Airmen in 2021. The obverse uses a restored, more detailed version of Flanagan's original Washington portrait.
