What would make yours worth more:
- Grade and, for proofs, strong cameo contrast
- A die variety or minting error

What to check on your 2015-S
- Make sure the mint mark really is an S. A worn or filled mark can be misread. It's what separates your coin from the 2015-P (326 million made).
- Judge the grade under good light. Look for luster and freedom from bag marks. "W" quarters in circulation are worth a premium even in average condition.
How to recognize it
The Blue Ridge Parkway design
North Carolina's 2015 quarter, third of the year, shows a curving stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway hugging the side of a mountain, with flowering dogwood, the state flower, in the foreground. The scenic road runs about 469 miles through Virginia and North Carolina, linking Shenandoah and Great Smoky Mountains national parks. Construction began in 1935 but the final section was not completed until 1987. Frank Morris designed the reverse, which Joseph Menna sculpted.
The America the Beautiful Quarter design
Each reverse shows a national park or other national site, one for every state, the District of Columbia and five territories, with the site's name, its state and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Five designs were issued each year from 2010 to 2020, followed by a final design for the Tuskegee Airmen in 2021. The obverse uses a restored, more detailed version of Flanagan's original Washington portrait.
