What would make yours worth more:

- A die variety or minting error

What to check on your 2015-S
- Make sure the mint mark really is an S. A worn or filled mark can be misread. It's what separates your coin from the 2015-D (216 million made).
- Judge the grade under good light. Look for luster and freedom from bag marks. "W" quarters in circulation are worth a premium even in average condition.
How to recognize it
The Saratoga design
New York's quarter closes 2015 with a close-up view of British General John Burgoyne surrendering his sword to American General Horatio Gates in October 1777. The design focuses on the generals' hands and the sword rather than the full scene. Saratoga National Historical Park preserves the battlefield where American forces defeated Burgoyne's army. The victory is often called the turning point of the Revolution because it helped persuade France to ally with the United States. Barbara Fox designed the reverse, which Renata Gordon sculpted.
The America the Beautiful Quarter design
Each reverse shows a national park or other national site, one for every state, the District of Columbia and five territories, with the site's name, its state and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Five designs were issued each year from 2010 to 2020, followed by a final design for the Tuskegee Airmen in 2021. The obverse uses a restored, more detailed version of Flanagan's original Washington portrait.
