What is a 2020-P National Park Quarter worth?
A worn 2020-P National Park is a spender: face value. A bright uncirculated one, or one with a known error, is worth setting aside.
What would make yours worth more:
- Uncirculated condition with full original luster
- A die variety or minting error

Quick answers
- Is the 2020-P National Park Quarter rare?
- No. With 286 million made, it's one of the most common America the Beautiful Quarters.
- Is the 2020-P National Park Quarter silver?
- No. It's copper core clad in 75% copper / 25% nickel. Quarters dated 1964 and earlier are 90% silver.
- Where is the mint mark on a 2020 America the Beautiful Quarter?
- On the obverse, to the right of Washington's ribbon. "W" quarters were struck in 2019 and 2020 and released into circulation in small numbers. On this coin the mark is P, for Philadelphia.
- How many 2020-P National Park Quarter coins were made?
- 286,000,000.
What to check on your 2020-P
- Make sure the mint mark really is a P. A worn or filled mark can be misread. It's what separates your coin from the 2020-W (2 million made).
- Proof or circulation strike? A proof has mirror-like fields and frosted design details and was sold to collectors, not released in change. The 2020-S National Park Quarter Proof (558,230 made) is the one to compare with.
- A face that's fully copper colored could be a missing clad layer error. Patchy discoloration is usually damage.
- Judge the grade under good light. Look for luster and freedom from bag marks. "W" quarters in circulation are worth a premium even in average condition.
With 286 million made, the 2020-P still turns up in everyday change. Keep yours only if it looks uncirculated or shows a variety; otherwise it's worth face value.
The story of the 2020-P National Park
Philadelphia made 286,000,000 of the National Park coin. Among the 5 designs of 2020 it was the middle Philadelphia run, between Weir Farm (126 million) and Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller (305 million).
Denver struck fewer of the same design (212 million), which makes the 2020-D the scarcer of the pair.
Across the whole program it sits 51st of 56 Philadelphia designs by mintage, where the scarcest is Chaco Culture at 22 million.
Elsewhere in US coinage in 2020
West Point again struck quarters with a W mint mark for circulation, this time on all five 2020 designs.
How to recognize it
The National Park design
The National Park of American Samoa opens the 2020 releases with a Samoa fruit bat mother hanging in a tree with her pup. Inscriptions read NATIONAL PARK and AMERICAN SAMOA. Established in 1988, the park protects coral reefs and tropical rain forest on several islands and is the only U.S. national park south of the equator. Fruit bats are important pollinators and seed dispersers in these forests. Richard Masters designed the reverse and Phebe Hemphill sculpted it.
The America the Beautiful Quarter design
Each reverse shows a national park or other national site, one for every state, the District of Columbia and five territories, with the site's name, its state and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Five designs were issued each year from 2010 to 2020, followed by a final design for the Tuskegee Airmen in 2021. The obverse uses a restored, more detailed version of Flanagan's original Washington portrait.
